Four Cs MAT Performing Arts Showcase
On Friday 5 July 2019 we hosted our very first MAT performance showcase. This was an opportunity for all schools within the Trust to come together to show off what they have learnt this year in their Performing Arts lessons, to each other, and their parents and carers.
Tessa Hammond, who leads Expressive Arts at Arthur Mellows Village College and Lizzie Watts, who leads the Performing Arts provision for our Primary Schools, worked together to create a showcase of the wonderful work the schools have achieved this academic year.
Hampton Vale Primary Academy kicked off the evening with their orchestra performing ‘Clown Dance’ and ‘Back Scratcher’ and the choir singing ‘Sun Arise’ and ‘Breaking Free’. Discovery Primary Academy then performed two dances to songs from The Lion King and Annie. To continue the musical theme, Fulbridge Academy then performed an abridged version of the hit show Matilda including some drama and dance as well as singing ‘Revolting Children’ and ‘When I Grow Up’. The choir at Arthur Mellows Village College sang two songs, ‘The Cup Song’ and ‘This is Gospel’ with a student accompanying them on the drums.
To finish the showcase all four schools sang ‘Believe’, a beautiful song by Lin Marsh.
We would like to thank all of the staff that have worked with the children within these lessons as well as the parents who came to celebrate these successes with us on the evening and of course, most importantly, the students who performed.
We look forward to following up the success of this showcase by making it an annual event.
